Pomodoro Timer

This is a free online Pomodoro timer set to the classic 25 minutes. Press start, work on one task until the alarm rings, then take a 5-minute break. It runs in your browser with no download and no account.

Change the session length, pick a calm background, switch to the fullscreen clean view, and keep your tasks next to the clock while you work.

How to use the Pomodoro Timer

  1. Press start to begin a 25-minute Pomodoro. Use the Time button if you want a different length.
  2. Work on a single task. If a distraction comes up, write it in the task list and get back to work.
  3. When the alarm rings, take a 5-minute break and step away from the screen.
  4. After four Pomodoros, take a longer 15 to 30 minute break before the next set.

The 25/5 Pomodoro cycle explained

One Pomodoro is 25 minutes of focused work. Four Pomodoros with short breaks between them make one set, which is roughly two hours of real, undistracted study. Counting Pomodoros instead of hours also makes your progress easy to measure: "I did six Pomodoros on chemistry today" is more honest than "I studied all afternoon".

If 25 minutes feels too short for deep work like essays or coding, try the 50-minute timer. If starting at all is the problem, set the timer to 10 or 15 minutes and build up from there.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Pomodoro timer?

A Pomodoro timer counts down a focused work session, usually 25 minutes, then signals a short break. It is the tool behind the Pomodoro Technique, a time management method created by Francesco Cirillo.

Is this Pomodoro timer free?

Yes. You can use it free in your browser with no sign-up. A free account adds saved sessions, statistics and study rooms.

Can I change the Pomodoro length?

Yes. Press the Time button and set any session length from 1 to 240 minutes. When a session ends you can choose your break length.

Does the timer work if I switch tabs?

Yes. The countdown runs in a background worker, so it stays accurate while you use other tabs.
